Passing the GHC International Exam is the only way to earn the title of Certified Hygiene Care Officer. This is the region's most rigorous assessment of hygiene competence.
The GHC International Examination is not a formality. It is a three-module assessment that tests knowledge, practical skill, and professional character — because all three are required to carry The Shield.
Module I — Theoretical Science
A comprehensive digital assessment covering the science of microbiology and chemical safety. Candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of pathogen behaviour, surface compatibility, and the correct application of cleaning and disinfection protocols before they are permitted to proceed.
Module II — The Practical Audit
A live site-simulation exercise conducted under real-world conditions. Candidates are placed in a facility environment and must demonstrate the full GHC Shield Protocol — from equipment setup and zone identification to chemical handling and post-task reporting — under the observation of a certified GHC Examiner.
Module III — Ethical Viva
An oral interview conducted directly with the GHC Board of Examiners. Candidates are assessed on their commitment to the Professional Oath — their understanding of confidentiality, asset care, duty of care, and the ethical responsibilities that come with access to sensitive environments.
Every module must be passed. There are no shortcuts to The Shield.
